Don’t Buy Another Bottle Of Water Until You Read This Article

Water water everywhere but what brand do we drink? I remember growing when I wanted a glass of water I simply headed over to the kitchen sink. Today I would not even dream of drinking tap water, why? Is there really anything wrong with it? When did it become so bad for you? It’s all marketing, the bottled water companies have convinced us that drinking tap water is bad for us. The world has changed quite a bit and people are much more health conscience today than they were in the past. The soda companies realize this due to declining sales in soda. They are now producing water and their marketing positions their products as the savior.   The bottled water industry is huge, it’s currently a $100 billion industry and growing. The global consumption of bottled water goes up 10% each year. Yet an interesting taste test result showed that tap water outranked bottled water.  But we continue to head to the stores and fill our closets with bottled water. Here are some interesting and terrifying statistics

  1. Production of water bottles uses 17 million barrels of oil a year, and it takes three times the water to make the bottle as it does to fill them.
  2. Of the 30 billion plastic water bottles sold in the United States in 2005, only 12 percent were recycled.
  3. China has quickly become the number two consumer of bottled water in the world.
  4. In scientific testing, bottled water was found to be no safer than tap water.
  5. A report by Food And Water Watch says that almost half of all bottled water is derived from tap water

Take a look at this very interesting video as they sum up the entire bottled water industry. We decided to conduct a taste test of our own here at the Oh So Very Vegan compound and the results are finally in. We selected 5 top brand bottled waters and 1 cup of tap water. Fiji Bottled Water 6. Fiji Even though our panel didn’t see the bottles the water came in, it’s apparent from the results that the only thing good about Fiji water is the cool bottle it comes it. In our taste test Fiji received zero votes. Zephyrhills Bottled Water 5. Zephyrhills The popular Zephyrhills brand finished second to last with only 2 votes. Aquafina Bottled Water 4. Aquafina The Pepsico companies big money maker Aquafina rolled in forth taking it’s fair share of votes. But not enough to get it to the top. Dasani Bottled Water 3. Dasani In our water tasting test it seems that Coca-Cola not only beats Pepsi in the soda wars. There was a lot of votes for Dasani in our taste test. Smart Water2. Smart Water Smart Water was described as fresh and clean tasting yet it came in #2 in our taste test. Tap Water 1. Tap Water Yes it’s true, tap water took the majority of the votes in our taste test. I was shocked at the results myself. But the majority of testers said the tap water had the a refreshing taste to it. When we revealed the results the testers themselves were surprised as well. Now we understand this is just a test of 20 people but we wanted to conduct it for purposes of entertainment. Try for yourself, do a taste test   we’d love to hear about the results.
